TAXES FOR ARTISTS

Have all your income tax fears extinguished in this DIY income tax workshop.  This session will teach you how to organize your artist practice for income tax reporting, explain how to report your income and expenses, and help you understand the jargon. Be proactive, take this workshop, and thank yourself come tax time.

ART FESTIVAL PROPOSALS

This workshop caters to artists who are interested in submitting an application to art festivals such as Nocturne: Art at Night (Halifax) and Lumière (Sydney). The workshop will explore the issues specific to art festivals and typical application guidelines for art festivals to help workshop participants develop their project proposals. The instructor brings a wealth of experience to this topics having been a participating (juried) Artist, Juror and Event Coordinator with Lumière, and exchange artist with Art in the Open, Charlottetown.

DOCUMENTING YOUR WORK

How do you show the world your work, on your website, in your portfolio, and when applying for grants? This workshop will show artists how to photograph 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional work using a digital camera, along with a variety of lighting methods including professional and household lighting. Artists will learn to develop techniques to professionally document their work using readily available equipment, from around the studio or in the home. The workshop will also provide basic instruction on how to download images from camera to computer, and how to resize images for web applications. ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT!
