10 DAYS IN OCTOBER a Cultural Feast that has something for everyone

PARRSBORO, NS: Parrsboro Creative and its Cultural Partners are hosting a 10-day celebration of arts and culture in Parrsboro on the shores of the spectacular Bay of Fundy. Billed as a Cultural Feast, this dynamic showcase for the arts offers an amazing variety of things to do and see with an exciting mix of Music, Workshops, Concerts, Nature Hikes, Youth Art, Film, Sketch Crawls and a veritable Art Explosion with 37 artists, 7 solo collections, and 25 exhibition spaces.

Each Cultural Partner has something special to offer. On October 1, to kick off the festivities, the Chef of Wild Caraway Restaurant, Andrew Aitken, will be cooking up a 7 course meal for Ship’s Company Theatre’s annual Fall Dinner, and this is followed by an Oktoberfest evening of music and dance at The Hall. On Monday October 3, you can go Star Gazing at Age of Sail Museum, and on Wednesday October 5, take part in a Rug-Hooking Demonstration on the veranda at Ottawa House Museum which has one of the most spectacular views in Nova Scotia. Also on October 5 at The Hall, there’s “Born To Be Blue”, a feature film about Chet Baker starring Ethan Hawke. And on October 7, there’s Wyatt Ship’s Fall Concert with The Stanfields and Ryan Willigar.

Meanwhile, throughout the week, the special activities never stop. If you’re interested in Nature Hikes, just sign up at the Fundy Geological Museum. If visual arts is your passion, take one of our Daily Art Walkabouts, a two hour guided tour featuring a collection of extraordinary work in many different styles which also includes the fanciful explorations of young artists from the Parrsboro Regional Elementary & High School. And there are Photography Exhibitions as well, showing the superb work of Thaddeus Holownia and Lawrence Nicoll. And if music is your thing, be sure to take in the live music performances at the Black Rock Bistro – great atmosphere, great food.

10 DAYS IN OCTOBER is truly a Cultural Feast that has something for everyone. The work of celebrated visual artists like Tom Forestall, Joy Laking, Bryan Maycock, Wayne Boucher, Heather Lawson and Monika Wright will amaze and inspire you, while the artistry and ingenuity displayed in the many special craft, heritage and music events during the week will delight you. Join us. Kick up your creative heels and have a ball!
