Ross Creek hosts adult art and theatre workshops

Adult Art Workshops at Ross Creek

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, located just outside of Canning and Wolfville NS, is pleased to announce its first adult workshops in theatre and visual arts of the season.  Ross Creek is a dedicated arts education and creation space, with studios for teaching and developing visual, performing and literary arts. This September 30, we begin our fall adult programs with a theatre workshop in Shakespeare’s Verse, taught by acclaimed director Ken Schwartz, and a unique approach to Figure Drawing, taught by internationally renowned visual artist Sara Hartland-Rowe. Also intended for teachers who wish to expand their knowledge, each workshop will provide inspiration and new ways to think about the art form. Click here for more information or to register.

Figure Drawing with Artist Sara Hartland-Rowe

This 3-day class with wonderful artist and teacher Sara Hartland-Rowe  at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts takes full advantage of its bucolic location. Students of all levels of experience will  begin on Friday evening with a bonfire in which they’ll make their own charcoal. Saturday’s classes will include short and long poses from life, the figure in the landscape, and figurative narrative. Sunday morning the class will work with colour in a range of materials including egg-tempera and dry pigment made from local vegetation. Group meals, exploring the Centre’s extensive grounds and a Saturday evening film screening round out an immersive drawing weekend.

Sara Hartland-Rowe is a painter and installation artist living in Halifax, where she has taught at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design since 2000. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and was recently short-listed for the Lieutenant-Governor’s Masterworks Award for her permanent installation, “Travellers,” at Halifax Transit’s Bridge Terminal. For more information on Sara Hartland-Rowe’s extraordinary work, please visit www.sarahartlandrowe.com
