The Lunenburg Art Gallery’s upcoming exhibition “Tied To The Sea”, will be a show of various media by Zehava Power, Nicole Power and Michel Doucet. Their Opening Reception will take place on Tuesday, July 26th at 5pm. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend. This exhibition will be available from July 26th – August 28th.
Zehava trainer as a graphic designer and worked in the field for about ten years. She continued to develop her skills amidst raising a family, after a move to Halifax from Ontario. Wherever she’s lived, Zehava has always been a part of the art community. She has a representational style and her inspiration is derived from scenery and people. She works out of her studio, and during the summer months, is just at home working plein-air. Zehava’s work can be found at the Teichert Gallery, Halifax, Amicus Gallery, Chester and Jenny Jib Sales in Lunenburg.
At 25 years of age, Nicole Power is a professional artist from Halifax and has been painting with acrylics for over a decade. Her early inspiration and instruction came from her mother, Zehava Power, otherwise, she is self-taught.
Nicole is very active with the Maritime art community and is a regular contributing artist in the Lunenburg Art Gallery’s fundraiser “Paint Sea on Site”. She’s also painted in Annapolis Royal’s “Paint The Town”, and in many other events. She can recollect the sale of her earliest studio pieces while still in high school. Nicole’s paintings can be seen at the Teichert, Amicus, Argyle and Lunenburg Art Galleries. She’s had her work featured in several solo and two-person exhibitions and annually in Teichert Gallery’s Group Exhibition in Halifax.
She enjoys painting the local coastline and cityscape scenes. Anything the light touches the right way inspires her and usually finds its way into her art. Attending concerts and movies are part of her pastime and she is also studying law at Dalhousie University.
Michel is from Weymouth, Nova Scotia and is mainly self-taught. While growing up, the artwork on the walls of his family home were his inspiration. His passion for art began while in his thirties and it continues to grow. Michel has attended workshops taught by accomplished artists, and he currently teaches his own methods. Plein air is a favourite part of his painting and he takes great pleasure knowing others enjoy is artwork.
