At 2 pm, Saturday, July 23rd, 2016,
Joy Laking, Artist-in-Residence at the Port Bickerton lightkeeper’s house will be hosting an artist’s talk from 2-4 pm at the lighthouse Interpretive Centre to discuss her current work and to talk about her experience at the residence. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Please come and meet Joy and see her beautiful paintings. Admission is $3 at the door.
At 10 am, on Sunday, July 24th, artist Joy Laking will host a plein air painting event at the Port Bickerton lighthouse. Artists, ages from 10 up, all levels of expertise are welcome to meet at the lighthouse lookoff at 10 am. Artists should bring their own painting supplies (brushes, paints, palette, paper or canvas on a light board), a bag lunch, drinking water, stool, and wear a hat. Joy will demonstrate between 10 and 11 am and then everyone is welcome to come and paint. At four pm, for anyone who remains, the paintings will be displayed in the residence, tea and cookies will be provided and there will be a group critique by Joy. If the day is rainy, the session will be rescheduled.
