Warning: Artists coming to ‘Paint the Town’ of Annapolis Royal
Advance notice has been received that an invasion of artists will descend on the scenic town of Annapolis Royal, in South West Nova Scotia on the weekend of the 20 and 21 August, 2016. 80 talented artists will be found squirreled away in the most beautiful spots. You may spy them lurking amongst the canna lilies in the Historic Gardens, or barricaded next to the Fort Anne canons, sunning on the boardwalk with scenic views of Granville Ferry and even hiding amongst the vegetables at the bustling Saturday Farmers’ and Traders’ market!
The town has reluctantly agreed to be painted on the condition that all art works produced will be sold to the highest bidder at the end of each day. The original works will be auctioned off at the Academy building uptown, located at 590 St. George Street. Gallery Director Sophie Paskins said “They (The Artists) do this to us every year. Collectors and visitors travel from all over to see these artists in action, creating beautiful work in a beautiful setting. 2016 will mark the 21st year of this popular event.”
If you are interested in seeing original, freshly made art for sale in the lovely setting of Annapolis Royal then please mark the dates in your calendar. And come prepared!
The auction is free to attend. Paint the Town will go ahead rain or shine. All proceeds mutually support The Annapolis Region Community Arts Council (ARCAC) and participating artists.
