Summer will soon be here and Lunenburg School of the Arts will be welcoming students from as far away as Toronto, Montreal, New York, Texas and North Carolina. Students from our local community in the Town of Lunenburg, our neighbouring towns and villages, the Halifax area and beyond continue to be the staple of our enrolment. We are encouraged by your support and by the art created. We’re having a lot of fun here at LSA! Be sure and register early as classes are filling at a steady pace.

The Lunenburg Symposium: Mentorship in the Arts looks amazing! We have confirmed all our guest speakers, including Shawna Dempsey (Co-Executive Director for Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art), artist and educator Zachary Gough, and Toronto collective Mammalian Diving Reflex.Topics include: the economies of mentorship, how-to’s for mentorship, and an evolving approach to mentorship and youth engagement. Advance registration starts at just $60 and includes includes all symposium sessions, lunch on both dates, the
Friday reception and the
Saturday evening event.
We have planned some great evening activities too. On Friday night our symposium partner, Lunenburg School of the Arts, will host an opening reception with drinks, nibbles and a knot-making group activity. Then, on Saturday night, Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP) will host a performance from the vocal residents who are mentoring with Montreal musicians Constantinople.

Lunenburg School of the Arts board member Andrew Maize will be opening the season at dis.cord gallery (across the street from LSA on Montague) with an exhibition of his latest works. Friday, May 27th @ 7:00pm. Congratulations Andrew!
