Happy Spring everyone,
We are reaching out again to bring everyone up to date on what has been happening at the Centre. For the past month Daniel O’Neill and Renée Gruszecki, Director and Co-Chair of the Board of Directors respectively, have been managing the Centre as we prepare to move forward with restructuring plans. Renée has been involved in the arts community for over 10 years and has a long history with the Centre, especially with its Archive. Further, she is one of the founding members of Nocturne and sat on the Khyber Board for 3 years. Daniel comes from a background in mental health and research psychology before shifting to the arts in sound and composition.
We’ve had a busy month at the Centre, with the 2015-2016 Media Arts Scholarship screening at the Halifax Central Library, and the upcoming Media Fusion Art Collective presentation of Oversight at the Bus Stop Theatre tonight at 7pm. The Media Arts Scholarship screening was a great success, with over 150 people in attendance.
Closer to home, a number of members have been in the editing suites, finishing films for HIFF and private screenings coming up in June. Tori, in her capacity as Programming Director with Nocturne, has been bringing in many new faces into the Centre for meetings. There will be a general information session for Nocturne happening in the project room on May 25th, at 7pm.
The Board is currently working towards a restructuring, and will ensure to keep you updated on any new plans going forward. We look to be able to move the Centre toward being a more engaged community resource and are looking to host and facilitate more events and activities in the coming months.
We appreciate the interest and support from all of the members here at CFAT who have reached out to Tori and Tom as well as the Board. If you have any questions or ideas about the restructuring process, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Board. We are always happy to hear feedback from our members and the community.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
Co-Chair, CFAT Board of Directors
